LIFE+ TREMEDAL visits schools in Santiago de Compostela

Technical staff from Ibader visited the infant and primary schools “López Ferreiro” and “Monte dos Postes” in Santiago de Compostela to tell 3rd– and 4th-year primary education pupils about the importance of wetlands to humanity.

The children were shown an audiovisual presentation so they could see what a wetland was and taken on a virtual trip to all the different kinds of wetland between the Galician coast and Santiago de Compostela so they could say which ones they already knew about or had actually visited. The children were also told about the significant biodiversity which habitats of this kind are home to and special emphasis was placed on peatlands as a form of wetland that people are not generally familiar with, but which are of great importance in terms of conservation.
