Improvement of alluvial woodland and its wet habitats on the Island of de San Roque (01/04/2014)
At the end of March and beginning of April, work as part of the project LIFE TREMEDAL was performed on the Island of San Roque (Rábade and Outeiro de Rei, Lugo) in order to improve the state of conservation of the woodland and a set of associated habitats on the island. The objective of the work was to increase the heterogeneity of the wet habitats on the island in order to favour the creation of a mosaic of habitats of this kind, which are of great importance to conservation. The work will also help recover riparian woodland affected by the fungus-like pathogen Phytophthora alni, which is affecting Galicia’s alder population.
